From the Anker Charging Strategy and Product Planning Team

"Our innovation has brought the world a uniquely designed, high-performance charger."

In developing wireless charging products, our team observed that the existing chargers were bulky and monotonous, primarily tailored for male consumers, leaving the female market largely untapped.

To address this gap, the team consulted female colleagues and conducted a thorough analysis of typical items found in women's purses, including lipsticks and dental floss, small mirrors, and earphones.

We discovered that "compact and exquisite" were the key demands among female users. Inspired by these insights, we set out to create a lightweight, aesthetically pleasing wireless charger.

Throughout the development process, the team was relentless, meticulously refining every crucial detail to achieve perfection. We tackled and overcame significant challenges related to reliability, heat dissipation, and magnetic alignment, frequently disassembling and reassembling prototypes.

After many iterations and optimizations, we crafted a wireless charger that resembled a small flying saucer—which we named the "UFO Charger."

Upon its release, this innovative product won seven media awards at the IFA exhibition and broke sales records during Black Friday. Furthermore, there was a significant improvement in the gender ratio among our users.

A balcony photovoltaic product is about to launch, leaving the marketing team just one month to prepare for a tough challenge. Our team joined forces with R&D, product, design, marketing, and operations, rolling out seven consecutive marketing campaigns in 2024 and achieving top brand awareness and market share in Germany.

In the U.S., when extreme weather cripples the grid, our products continue providing power for homes and medical devices, lighting up the darkest moments. "Our innovation has made every home more relaxed and comfortable."

Human and pet hair on floors often clump together and wrap around vacuum roller brushes, causing a persistent headache for consumers. Determined to address this issue, our robot vacuum team resolved to eliminate hair tangles from roller brushes once and for all.

Initially inspired by the design of combs, our team developed the first-generation anti-tangle roller brush. However, post-launch feedback from users indicated that the solution did not fully meet expectations. Further investigation revealed that our tests had failed to account for the variety of complex hair situations found in actual home environments.

In response, we established the "Household Hair Research Institute" to conduct a detailed study of hair types, examining curliness, length, and other characteristics. We identified nine typical hair types to focus our efforts on.

To accurately simulate real-life conditions, we partnered with pet shops to regularly collect shed fur from Samoyed dogs. After more than 20 rounds of optimization and 13 rigorous tests, our team achieved a significant breakthrough. By leveraging principles of reverse rotation and acceleration, we successfully prevented hair from tangling around the brush.

Ultimately, we improved the roller brush's anti-tangle rate to 97%, and extended its maintenance cycle from two weeks to two months, significantly enhancing user satisfaction and product functionality.

In the early 2000s, chargers were large and heavy due to the limitations of traditional silicon (Si) devices. It was widely believed in the industry that increasing charging power meant accelerating the flow of electrons, which would inevitably generate more heat and require larger heat sinks. But is this truly unavoidable?

Anker's engineers, guided by first principles, realized that by minimizing energy loss during electron flow, heat generation could be significantly reduced, eliminating the need for large heat sinks. To achieve this, they evaluated various semiconductor materials and ultimately focused on the innovative material Gallium Nitride (GaN). Gallium Nitride (GaN) stands out for its ability to handle higher voltages and temperatures, while allowing electrons to move faster with lower energy loss. This breakthrough means that, at the same power level, chargers can be made smaller, dissipate heat more efficiently, and deliver improved charging performance.

Based on first principles, Anker collaborated closely with its Gallium Nitride (GaN) technology partners to conduct in-depth research and development. This effort successfully introduced the innovative material into the consumer electronics sector, leading to the launch of the world's first Gallium Nitride (GaN) charger.

During the development of an outdoor portable power station, our R&D team faced the formidable challenge of completing high-quality development within three and a half months to capitalize on the peak summer sales season—a goal initially considered impossible.

By reevaluating critical paths, parallelizing all possible tasks, assembling our top personnel, and stationing the project team at the factory for immediate problem-solving, the team completed the development in just over three months, successfully capitalizing on the peak sales season.

Despite market fluctuations, the power storage business achieved more than 100% growth, distinguishing itself as the only brand in the industry to successfully defy market trends.

In 2017, we faced a tough decision when a major electronics retailer demanded uniform online and offline pricing, which severely limited our profits due to high commissions. Recognizing this as indicative of insufficient brand power, we decided to terminate the partnership to focus on long-term brand building.

Two years later, our market share on Amazon soared to the top position, and our brand recognition significantly improved. Subsequently, the retailer reached out, willing to lower their commissions, and we resumed cooperation, ensuring profitability and securing a vital offline sales channel.

This experience highlighted the importance of committing to long-term strategies and focusing on brand development to strengthen our negotiating position and control. By understanding the balance between immediate and long-term interests in each partnership, we can make decisions that optimize outcomes.
